i dont trust people who are self proclaimed nonchalant OR an empath
Not to long ago in the US, there was a horrifying case of a young family that was murdered by men who pretended to be UPS workers. The home surveillance footage showed the break-in, the couple and oldest son being shot, and we also witnessed the young toddlers left defenseless. It was circulating on my tiktok feed, as well as many other people sharing their thoughts over what had happened. However one video that struck me as odd was a man who had stated something along the lines of how being an empath will "have you crying over anything" in reference to the murder. I was shocked at how the man would waive off such terrifying thing as "anything" and it made me think about the harms over being nonchalant. It felt tasteless using such heartbreaking event for clout, jumping on a trend of being an empath. But greater than that, I felt like it would be more disturbing if watching such thing didn't invoke a strong emotion? Like how does that make anyone corny? idk, the internet can be annoying sometimes.
